On one hand, I want to say fuck no, but to be honest I actually have been in circumstances where I've had to physically defend myself, and have been physically assaulted. And even though it was reasonable for me to retaliate, I was still freaking out about getting hurt and hurting someone else.

There's really only so much that constant exposure can do in normalizing something as harrowing as self defense, or for that matter harming another person. I'd like to say I did better than most, because I did have the presence of mind to protect myself and gtfo, but I wasn't a cold hearted badass like I would have preferred when presented with something trying to fuck me up.

So I mean-- there's only so much of your expectations that can be true unless you've actually been in that situation. And unless you're extremely psychologically damaged or desensitized to regular violence, chances are you're still going to react poorly to it.
