That is because a lot of those people forget the world outside the US exists. And when they do, the world for them is just WHITE PEOPLE and POC. They don't even differentiate between different races/cultures.

Yup. Look at the comment just above yours - "white people speaking languages other than english." Apparently whites are a monolithic culture - even though we can't all agree if they're really white or not (I've seen wank over hispanics, italians, greeks, whether they are white or not).

Exactly. If that person knew anything about foreign cinema, they would know that French cinema is distinct from German cinema which is distinct from Swedish cinema which is different from Russian cinema and so on and so forth. To lump them all together is like lumping all the painting movements together.

And it gets even weirder when they don't even live in the us themselves but still only think in US-society boxes of the white guys vs. the black guys and maybe some other minor-ities because they live on tumblr, the home of us-centrist pseudo-progressive social criticism. Oh, and of course they're white, too.
