i'm just gonna chime in here, and recommend 'Redfern Now'

it's an Australian drama (so no subtitles needed!), airing on our ABC, and each episode is a stand-alone story about Indigenous Australians dealing with various issues

it's good. like, I was a bit hesitant to watch it at first, because you don't really ever see Indigenous Australians on TV (unless it's about crime rates or alcohol or something), but it's seriously good.

i'm just really proud that we've finally got a show like this. we finally did something right for once.

I forgot to mention - on the ABC website, there's ABC iview, which lets you watch shows online. you might be able to watch it on there! :)

I don't have a (channel receiving) TV. Or watch much tv shows at all so things can bypass me really easily, I basically rely on FS and word of mouth to find out about things xd

Oh and tram stop ad posters!

(from the anon who just rec'ed a bunch of Indigenous-focused movies upthread):

YES Redfern Now is *amazing*. It's also like the only show/movie/mini-series we've had in my memory that focuses on Indigenous Australians in urban places, which is just ridiculous considering how many Aboriginal people live in cities. (The Mabo mini-series might have taken place in cities a lot of the time? I can't remember)

The Circuit was also really great back when it was on SBS.
