Re: Haircut recommendations?

What's the texture of your hair - fine, thick, etc - and is it curly/wavy/straight? You should probably keep those two things (plus how much upkeep/styling you're willing to put in) in mind when selecting a hairstyle... a style that looks great on straight hair may not work on curly hair (at least, not without modification). If you're cool with straightening your hair every day, that's not a problem. If you want to keep the curls, then either mod the style or find another one, etc.

Avoid layers that end right at the widest part of your face (around your cheeks, I should think, given you're a diamond shape). Go for styles that add a little volume up top, or that have layers around the chin area. A chin-length bob could work, depending on the texture etc. of your hair. I'd personally avoid anything super-short, like a pixie, because that'll emphasise the overall shape of your face a bit too much. If it's modded to have more volume on top, then that might work - but talk to your stylist and make sure you're comfortable with it first!

Also, when I say volume, make sure it's volume that spreads sideways - width, more than height. You're getting your hair to help balance the width of your cheeks, cos otherwise the forehead and chin look too narrow.

This looks helpful: http://grottohairstudio.wordpress.com/2013/05/17/face-flattering-hairstyles-part-7-the-diamond-face-shape/ And try looking up the celebrities listed there, so you can see which styles you like. It helps bringing pictures of what you want to the salon.

... And my last bit of advice is to ignore everything I (and others) have suggested. When it comes down to it, what matters is how comfortable you feel in a particular style. If you really like a particular look, go for it. If after getting it, you decide you don't like it - well, hair grows. And you'll be able to experiment again with it soon enough. =)

I have very fine hair, but there's a lot of it. It's also a bit wavy.

IDK about straightening or curling, the only hairdressing tool I've ever used in my life is a hairdryer!

My hair's already shoulder-length to start with, so I was thinking of a short style with side bangs, that has wispy edges that come out from the face. (don't know what it's called.)

Something like these:

I also really like this one, but it would probably make my nose look like a cartoon:

Having a lot of hair's good! Gives your stylist room to play =) I'd suggest stating straight-up that you want a fuss-free hairstyle... and say specifically what you want - to be able to let it air-dry, or do just a quick blow-dry, etc. I've found sometimes stylists have a very different idea from me about what's "fuss-free". =P

Judging by those pics you pulled, I'd say go for something maybe an inch or so below your chin - you can absolutely do a bob if you like, as long as it's a long one. Sideswept bangs would probably look great - just be careful with the length. Have them cut either short enough to widen your forehead a tad (above the cheekbones), or longer (between the cheekbones and chin) so they widen your chin a bit. Add lots of jagged layers and you're good to go.

I should mention: consider whether this is a style you can trim up on your own, or if you have to keep going back to the salon as it grows out - and if so, how often. Me, I'm both lazy and broke, which means I always pick styles that still look good as they grow out!

For whatever my opinion's worth, I think that Julianne Hough hairstyle you pulled out looks absolutely amazing, and really versatile to boot!
