Re: Problems at/with church.

All I can say is that if your church is trying to tell you there is something wrong with reading the Bible, and are turning in a direction totally different to what you grew up knowing, maybe you will have to stop going.

I know that is not a great option - church is a great social opportunity - but if it means compromising what you believe is God's Truth... I still favour God's Truth before socialisation. You can always pray and read the Bible at home, without people judging you for it.

(And I do believe it's not the Bible that causes conservatism, but how we interpret it.)
