So, when I hear 'time slows down' I think, sure, no problem. Easy. I understand exactly what that means.

But on second thought, there's this problem:

Slowing down, as opposed to stopping abruptly, implies a process extended in time. Speed is defined as distance per time. So, when you say that time slows down, what you're saying is that at this point in time time covers a smaller distance per time than time did some time ago.

I get that time is relative. No need to explain the whole Einstein, two explosions, whatever, thing. I just don't understand how the expression of time slowing down isn't circular when speed requires time?

Because you dolt, not all religious people are assholes (just like not all atheists are). So, you can either be an asshole and thus represent all atheists as assholes OR you can be the better person. But no, you choose asshole. As a LOGICAL atheist, you should be able to rationalize and understand how the whole eye for an eye thing works.

Okay, I'm a casual viewer. I get the gist of it, but I don't know a lot of specific rules- they seem arbitrary, afaik. Why, when a dude is batting, is a foul ball sometimes a strike and sometimes not a strike? Some at bats go on for ages with them just chipping away at pitches and the count not moving. There is something obvious I'm missing, right?

Incidentally, does anybody know if Nekozamurai is getting subbed in English already? I hunted for it a couple of weeks ago, but I only saw raws.

You can't strike out on foul balls. So you can hit 2 foul and get 2 strikes, but after that you're safe. Hitting lots of foul balls can also be a strategy to wear down the pitcher- to tire him out, to get him to try a different pitch that the hitter likes better, etc.

It should be noted if you hit the ball into foul territory and the catcher/infielder catches it, that's is a foul out. But strike 3 can't be foul.

Is this about the "Explain it to me like I'm 5" thread above? I asked about the rules of football because they are honestly one of the most incomprehensible things I could think of.

That's not a silly question at all, and in fact I think it's a very intelligent one for primary school. :3

Does DVRing a show count towards the ratings? I have heard that it doesn't but it doesn't make sense to me. If it doesn't, WHY doesn't it?

I'm asking about in America but if it works differently in another country that is interesting to me too.
