Time slows down as you approach speed of light though, regardless of perception.

nonspecific, but....

I'm interested in these pairings and would like some recs?

Hunger Games, Katniss/Haymitch (because age gaps yay)

Batman, Batman/Joker (mostly because Arkham Origins is blowing my mind right now, and I just cannot find any long b/j fics other than Slipping into Entropy)

Re: demisexuality

(Anonymous) 2013-11-22 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
My issue about demisexuality is that it isn't a sexuality like the other four that are based on attraction/lack of attraction to feminine/masculine features. It's a emotional closeness fetish. Nothing more, nothing less.

Re: Sentinal/Guide

NAYRT

The Sentinel fandom also look these basic elements from the show and ran with it in fanon. So the idea that Sentinels/Guides have a soulmate bond, or a sexual bond is all fanon, as well as little things like the Sentinel being able to sense where his Guide is at all times or make out his heartbeat from across the room. (Other Sentinels going instinct-driven caveman macho and fighting over Guides is surprisingly canon, though.)

Also, in the show, no one really knows about Sentinels except Jim, the show's Sentinel and a cop, and Blair, his Guide who meets him because he's doing a doctoral thesis on Sentinels and needs a subject to study. One of the recurring issues of the show is how it would affect Jim's career if he was found out. In contrast in the fandom one of the most popular subgenres of fic became 'Sentinels are Known' stories, where the government regulates Sentinel and Guide bonds. A lot of these fics created a legally unequal relationship between Sentinels and Guides eg Guides having restricted legal rights or becoming the 'property' of their Sentinel. Or, less commonly, they just create a situation where Jim and Blair are forced to work together against their will because they are compatible matches, and romantic comedy ensues.

I mention the above fanon because a lot of the Sentinel/Guide AUs for other fandoms I've seen are 'Sentinels are Known' flavour AUs. I imagine that could be a bit confusing if you look up the original show and don't recognise anything because the whole thing is based on long-estrablished fanon tropes.

On a side note, I feel like 'Sentinels are Known' unequal-power-dynamics AUs were one of the precursors to monster that is now the A/B/O AU - once you add the fanon 'Guides are lower caste' to 'Sentinels and Guides have an intrinsic sexual bond' to 'If Sentinels and Guides don't consummate their bond bad things happen', the parallels are pretty compelling.

Sorry for the essay. I hope it explains a few things!

The plot of Supernatural

I have little interest in actually watching the show, but some of the discussions here on F!S have made me mildly curious.

No, I'm sorry I was rude. I just don't like generalization. It's like saying that every religious person is closed minded homophobe, when I know that's not true.

Woman saved from drowning by another woman. Said saviour is a mermaid, and a rather irreverent one at that. Basically, fairytale love story set in modern-day Britain, where the handsome prince the mermaid falls head-over-tails for is a princess.

Good point, but then people write fanfic expanding on the world he wrote yet always seem to have this idea about dog daemons.

I've had a story idea knocking around about a cab driver with a taste for vintage men's clothes and her girlfriend trying to track down the owner of a disc that holds the entire personality and memories of a pop star from before she became a pop star. I started it months ago and just never got past the first chapter before it fizzled.

Sleepy Hollow!
I expected it to be OMG look at Tom Mison's stupid pretty face! It turned out to be a fun adventure romp that's doing the whole diverse cast thing properly.

It's a Fox show that's on Mondays, right before Sleepy Hollow.

And if you can get Hulu, both AH episodes are up.

Smae here. I expected Elementary to just wallow in the angst and drama that comes from having a character who's an addict, and I expected Lucy Liu's Watson to be nothing but cheap fanservice.
I'm still not too impressed with Elementary as an adaptation of Doyle's stories, but as it's own thing, it's pretty good.

Oh okay, you two have mostly cleared that up. Now this happened this postseason in one of Detroit's games, the one where whatshisface Sanchez et al. were throwing a nohitter and it wound up with just one hit in the end. They said Sanchez threw four strikeouts in one inning. How the heck do you reach base on a strikeout?
