Here's my take on it. The ability to not only come up with but also wholeheartedly believe in an unprovable thing like Heaven demonstrates just how incredibly brilliant and awesome human minds are.
And remember that heaven doesn't have to be the one professed by today's Catholics or Protestants. Pretty much every major religious system includes some kind of existence after death. It's a human impulse, not a Christian thing.

Haha, I've actually read that one, and I think it's an absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking piece of writing. Thank you for reminding me of it, though; I need to reread it!

I'll Be Yours This one isn't about any specific mental illness, but it illustrates depression from growing up in someone's shadow really well. Very long. Technically gen, but there's one scene.

Comfort John has a PTSD attack, and Sherlock's actually helpful. Very sweet. Also gen.

Feeding Spaghetti to Mice John, PTSD, self-harm. Gen. I've not read this one yet, so I'm sorry if it sucks.

Do they still have good ratings?

I mean, I'm not in the US, so I don't know how popular/not popular they are with the general audience, but I always thought that they're very popular only with their core audience, mostly people in fandom. Cause I don't think I ever saw the SPN cast or people talking of SPN in US infotaiment shows like in E!, or wherever.

We used to have weekly "meet the commenter" like posts on a board I used to frequent. People would ask any questions they wanted to the person in the "hot seat." Wouldn't work here since anons would be left out, but wouldn't that be kind of fun?

Oh, that is actually a great backstory for them if it's canon! I tend to ignore supplementary material unless it's a gag reel, tbh. I shell out for the blu-rays for the EYE BLEEDING HD but then never watch the featurettes/making-of's/countless other special features.

I'm not too sure myself. I heard that ratings dropped during after the 3rd season and never went up again but I don't think that's right since it was already being considered for cancellation during the 3rd season. I think they're still good but not as high as they used to be. Don't quote me on that though.

Rescue Me (at least the first few seasons) Really good, gut wrenching drama couple with dark humor.

A long time ago my dad had written on his whiteboard: "Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana." I didn't think it was funny but I just figured it was another weird dad thing.

Some time later I saw someone asking what this joke meant (I don't remember where, or if they ever got their answer), but I just realized it's referring to time flies, as in a type of fly (insect), being fond of an arrow.
