What's that top one? Gah, I am so out of the loop ;_;

Teen Titans Go!

Hmm... I'm gonna look into this one.

Thanks!

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
But...they're both anime style.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but they're both two different kinds of anime style, anon.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you legitimately not tell that the top one is a super-cartoonish caricature, and the bottom one has at least semi-realistic proportions?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but OP said "I prefer the cartoon quality to the anime quality" and that makes no sense, as they are both cartoons and both anime.

The top is more 'chibi' and the lower style is just more 'regular'. Chibi's been around as an anime style for ages.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
OP

Yes, you are correct. I was trying to describe how they looked different from each other by saying one has a more western cartoon style while the other has a more Japanese cartoon style. TTG! is very brightly colored and "cutesy" while TT is more like what you would expect from a typical anime. I understand that they're both "anime style", but that was my way of forming a distinction between them and why I like one more than the other. Sorry for the confusion and poor choice of words.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is kind of funny because I think of the newer TTG very typical chibi anime, whereas I think of TT as more western with anime influences.

what i liked most about TT is that they switched to chibi sometimes (idk if TTG does that too 'cause i haven't watched it oops)

I still prefer the original style, but I think the chibi style is cute. I like it too.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not both?
diet_poison: (Rainbow Dash - cool)

[personal profile] diet_poison 2013-11-24 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I actually really, really like both styles for all the characters...except Beast Boy. I think the TTG design for Beast Boy (at least in this pic - I haven't seen any TTG episodes) is so over-caricaturized.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
he's wearing a really extreme expression there

this is what he normally looks like http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130828225225/villains/images/2/2a/Beast_boy.jpg I think it's a cute design

My problem with the show is how they pushed all the characters into being jerks. i mean they fought on the originally show but it was pretty clear they all cared about each other like a family and i loved that.

Heh. It's definitely cute, but I think I still prefer the other one...idk. I'd have to watch it.
hamimi_fk: Natsuki looking slightly embarrassed. (Natsuki)

Not only do I dislike TTG!, but I can't stand the art style. It's like they got lazy and just gave up. =\ TT is way better in style, and pretty much everything else.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I never made it through 5 minutes of TTG!.
hamimi_fk: Lin Beifong being badass with chains (Lin - badass)

[personal profile] hamimi_fk 2013-11-24 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I tried to be fair about my instant dislike for it so I watched four episodes. They were painful for me. x.x

[personal profile] thistlechaser 2013-11-24 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I didn't last even a couple minutes of TTG!. I HATED the art style so much I couldn't even give the story a chance.
hamimi_fk: Selena looking strained (Selena - tense)

[personal profile] hamimi_fk 2013-11-24 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
The stories are even worst than the art. To be somewhat fair, had TTG! come out first, it might not be too bad. However, the series is just one big slapstick routine, ignoring all the awesome drama, action, and emotional rollercoaster of TT. In one episode of TTG!, Trigon came to visit Raven and he was like some kind of 'cool dad' to everyone else (he was making jokes and causal conversation with the other Titans) and I was just horrified. Dx

TTG is at least a well-fleshed out art style that feels "complete," TT always looked like a 14 year old weeaboo's notebook margin scribbles– never quite anime and never quite a style of its own, but just in-between crap

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa. No. You clearly weren't watching the same shows as the rest of us.

But this smells like a wank bait, so later.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
cause I thought it was poorly drawn?

I'd rather something be grotesque and cohesive than shoddily done, and Teen Titans was pretty damn fug
