Have you ever looked at a character and said "____ is basically me"?

If so, who was it?

No.

I feel like I look at characters and say "___ is basically me except better and more noble, and it would be extremely conceited to say that they're basically me." I don't think I've ever seen a character who is me, only characters who are somewhere between who I am and who I want to be.

Nah, there's usually a few parts of some characters that I identify with, but never "this is me."

And it's usually negative traits rather than positive ones, even though I'd like to think at least that I'm a fairly positive person.

Not a character, but Jennifer Lawrence. I'm not an award-winning actress, obviously, but if I were I'd be giving awkward interviews answers, tripping on my dress during the Oscars and admitting to doing tequila shots before going on stage too.

Although I would never admit this un-anon, for obvious wanky reasons, I have reflected more than once that I am totally Dean Winchester. Particularly the bad/annoying characteristics.

Most recently, it was Allegra Geller from eXistenZ. I think the different aspects of her character that were shown in the movie were similar to aspects of my personality that come out as you get to know me. Introversion getting mistaken for shyness even though I'm actually pretty brash and blunt, generally kind of stoic demeanor but actually really intense, can be playful and enthusiastic about my interests despite seeming really serious, having a really fucked-up imagination, etc.

I've had similar thoughts about Ethel Blackmore and Zoe Muggs from the Subnormality webcomic.

According to everyone I know who watches The Big Bang Theory, I am basically Sheldon Cooper minus the arrogance.

I'd like to think I'm less insufferable than Sheldon, though.

I relate a great deal to Nynaeve al'Meara. Like, a lot. I wouldn't say she's "basically me" - there are a few important differences - but she has so much in common with me, both positive traits and flaws.

For some reason, when I watched Hannibal (the TV series), I felt this really strong identification with Will Graham.

Even though I am not a male FBI profiler with a drinking problem and a cannibal psychiatrist.

I don't even know.

Aranea Serket from Homestuck--for better or for worse. I've got her good traits and her bad traits. I think the only thing I'm missing is Scorpio mind powers! (Which would be pretty cool to have, especially while I'm job-hunting.)

Well, I used to say that. Now she has more leadership skills than I do, and I have more anxiety-managing skills than she does. But it's a little painfully embarrassing, how many of these friendship lessons I apparently need spelled out for me.
