Re: Fandom-specific peeves

In Man from Uncle fic, when Illya is suddenly and for no apparent reason goes from being a BAMF to being a meek and nervous swooning submissive; the Illya/Napoleon dynamic is only interesting when they're both the strong and powerful, and on an equal footing. Not only would Illya never behave this way, but Napoleon wouldn't be interested in anybody who behaved this way - he likes his women strong, interesting and dangerous, his preferences in men would be the same.

Woobified Illya is such a crime against his characterization. Especially if, despite being a weeping, sighing, fainting shadow of his canon self, he's STILL described in the same damn fic as the "Ice King" or some other crazy stupid nickname.

(... why yes, sometimes I do read terrible fic and let it annoy me; I probably shouldn't, but there's ever so little MUNCLE fic out there and sometimes instead of re-reading the 10% worth spying for, I'll try something else and spend my time alternately fuming at the badfic and mentally re-editing it to something worthwhile.)
