Bad: I've seen random people yaoi paddle random people. It was so cringy and not cool. They had to ban them at cons in my area (and probably others) for that reason.

Fun: Watching shows with other people that the collective haven't seen yet. It's fun to see everyone's expressions and cries of no or yes.

I never understood that yaoi paddle thing. Why would anyone spend money on it? Why would anyone think it is okay to wave it around and hit random people? Why?

Why would anyone spend money on it? You could ask that for everything at a con.

As for why anyone would want to buy it and think it's ok to hit people with it: they never learned proper etiquette spending more time on yaoi and think a convention is a magical place where you can be anime.

I don't know. It was a horrible time in fandom for the sane. I feel bad for the harassed.
pantswarrior: Katamari bowls someone over. (clobberin' time)

The funny thing is, when it started? It was just this one booth selling them as a joke. Never intended for them to actually be USED on people. It was just this goofy harmless joke, and although I never bought one, I borrowed one on occasion to pose with other cosplayers for a laugh.

Then idiots started going around actually using them to hit people and ... yeah, there is a particular breed of yaoi fangirl that makes me much more inclined to use the word "slash" even when it IS Japanese media.
