What's on your walls, F!S?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
We have so many conversations about things you surround yourself with, but I don't think I've seen this one before. What art/storage/assorted things are hanging on the walls around you?

Mine:
- A set of wall-mounted shelves containing some odd painted bottled I made years ago and my Harry Potter books (I keep inconveniently large series shelved separately from the rest of my books)
- Two pegs holding my costume hats: Indy's fedora and a black cavalier hat with blue feathers
- The crack in Amy Pond's wall, printed as a three-foot vinyl decal and mounted on Plexiglas
- A poster of "Van Gogh's" painting of the TARDIS exploding
- A wrought-iron fruit bat
- A "running station" made of a shower organizer that holds my iPod armband, pedometer, patella strap, and other workout supplies
- My first two cross-stitch pieces: a super-basic picture of two of the puppies from 101 Dalmatians and a 40-color picture (including metallic thread and blending filament) of a wizard riding a crescent moon
- Two Ursula Vernon prints: Owl Saint and Rabbirds: Mourning Doves
- A starscape painted by a high school friend
- A print of Monet's "Flowering Arches"

A The Hobbit Poster (bilbo), a Keep Calm I'm The Doctor poster, and a poster my friend made me 6 years ago when we graduated from high school. :3 Not much else because I have six windows in my bedroom so, most of my wall space is windows and doors. :C

A Heroes poster, an event poster from my college, a picture from Peacemaker Kurogane, and my landlady's clock. Plus a frame my landlady put up. Nothing else, because there's no room and I can't damage the walls or my landlady will keep the lease.

And mold. Can't forget the mold.

A watercolour picture of a grim dark face whose features look vaguely Native American (but then it appears to be floating in outer space, so I'm not sure if its owner is human) and a huge carton with a huge "YOSSARIAN LIVES" lettered on it (done with red graffiti paint).

Also, some mushrooms made out of candy wrappings and nailed to the wall.

Here in the living room, there's some wall-mounted shelves, a print of old rotifer diagrams, an M.C. Escher print, some jigsaw puzzles I put together, and some random pictures. There's also a string of colorful square lanterns above the front window, and paper eyeball lanterns above the back door.

In the bedroom, there's a big sun and moon tapestry that I got at a Ren Faire, a banner thing with a castle on it that I also got at a Ren Faire, the wooden accordion peg thing (no idea what they're called) that I hang scarves and necklaces on, and a strand of plastic fish lights above the window. Also, glow stars on the ceiling. Is the ceiling a wall? XD

(...This reminds me that I have a lot of poster that need hanging. But I'll need more frames. Unframed posters become ruined posters. D:)

Sounds like you have some neat stuff! :D I wanna see the iron fruitbat.

I've got a bunch of Doctor Who and Totoro posters, some celebrity signed photos, and random Hawaiiana stuff. None of it's on my walls since I just moved into my new apartment in October and I've been to lazy to put them all back up.

Not much because it's a shitty wall that doesn't really hold things and a bad paint job (peels).

- preorder receipt for pokemon Y I should redeem for store credit
- shopping list
- Japanese alphabets
- Diver certificate
- Laminated picture my little sister did on her first day of school
- Birthday card made by little sister
- a pocket watch
- my new job offer/contract
- eta: oh a Hunger Games Calendar I haven't updated since April
- The Wood Spider I have named Spot.

Things I have that would be on the wall if it didn't suck:
- Japanese silk wallscroll of crows and cherry blossoms
- Framed japanese painting of rabbits
- German painting of rabbit
- Pacific Rim poster
- Biology poster
- original painting of galahs i picked up at a garage sale

Future want:
- if i ever own my own place I'm gonna paint one wall with stars...or maybe the roof would be better.

The wall at the foot of my bed, which I look at most often, is the non-nerd Japanese stuff. A yukata with rabbit print and a traditional straw hat on a display hanger, a large ornate painted paper fan, a fabric panel (also rabbit print, I'm predictable) my brother and his wife got me while they were in Japan, and a large print of a Yoshitaka Amano painting (Fantasy Box - I have been fascinated by that painting since I first saw it) mounted and matted.

Elsewhere in my room is the more geeky stuff - printouts of game conceptual art and illustrations, largely by Amano and Akihiko Yoshida for various RPGs, but also some stuff from Seiken Densetsu and the Ace Attorney series, in simple little frames so they look a little nicer than just pieces of printer paper taped to the wall. The all-out geek room with posters and straight printouts is downstairs with the video game consoles. ;)

In the corner I have a series of toy hammocks strung up with stuffed animals in them, largely rabbits. Behind my door in the opposite corner is a decently sized mirror.

And across the ceiling and over the windows, I have a strand of blue and white LED icicle lights dangling below some morning glory garland.

-several LOTR posters
-two BioShock posters
-an Uncharted poster

(I want a Bilbo one but it hasn't happened yet!)

Oh, a mini Halo helmet (not MJOLNIR) and a nail polish rack.

Elsewhere, pictures of my daughter/pictures she drew/, a framed picture with 3-d silk roses with embroidered stems and leaves surrounding a picture of my grandfather (paternal) that i never met, a picture of the town hall where my great-grandparents (maternal) lived which was destroyed in WWII, and Tanglebones, who is a sort of gargoyle, Gollumish creature and guards...things.

Too many cute JPop posters. The prize of my collection is a giant poster signed by Aso Natsuko to me. But I have a lot of posters.

I also have a print of The Scream, a small Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind poster, and a big theatrical poster for Serenity.

- Two Hobbit poster (one map and one from movie poster),
- Calendar with pictures of my little sister (and her little brother)
- Two paintings my cousin made, one that says Imagine and another with a woman in a dress with wings over my television.
- Poster of the Marauders Map
- Small pink Mirror,

- Oh and a temperature gauge? Eh thingy that tells me how cold (or hot I guess) it is in my living room, I actually have one in my kitchen too... Random "fun fact" it is currently 15 degrees celsius in my living room... I fucking hate winter!

...Rest of my wallspace is mostly covered in bookcases

In my bedroom at university:
* A hat, with six badges, hanging from a nail
* A rubbish bag made from a pair of unwearable old jeans, hanging from a nail
* Two shelves, displaying a selection of corkscrew hazel branches, my knitting and sewing equipment, three fantasy books, and a stack of boxes of paints and pencils
* One class schedule
* Three flyers for local art businesses
* A photo of an angel sculpture I made a couple of years ago
* Two photos of the matching bookends I made last year (brought to uni by accident)
* One postcard of a shady woodland glen
* A Shopping list
* and a London Tube map
I also recently ordered a poster that should be arriving any day now.

Mostly photos that I took while traveling in the UK and Italy and blew up to poster size. I have maybe... four, hanging around various places. I've also got some fandom-related posters (Doctor Who and some anime), and a piece of original fantasy art I got at a con. Also, my calendar (photos from London), a bulletin board which currently just has wi-fi info on it, and next to my kitchen there's a bulletin board+whiteboard hanging up which I mostly use to keep track of grocery lists.

(I'm in a studio apartment type place, so yeah, technically all one big "room".)

I'm really terrible at actually hanging the pretty things I have.

The main thing on my walls is book cases- a tall one and two short ones. Also I have a big L-shaped desk with a hutch built in for storage. This is where I display some knickknacks, including my Third Doctor action figure. There are birthday cards, photos in frames, my top hat, and a dried bouquet from a wedding I was in on top of the hutch.

Oh and on top of one of the short bookcases is a small version of this 1920s playbill image (it's actually a greeting card from my trip to New York in a frame) and a decorative tile with seahorses from the Monterrey Aquarium.

I also HAVE but am not currently hanging:
*this Oregon Shakespeare Festival poster which is nicely framed
*two multi-photo frames (one four-photo, one eight-photo)
*this Kate Beaton print (unframed)
*this poster from The Tempest (also unframed)
*and my B.A.!

I only really have wall-space for 2 maybe 3 of them though because of the bookcases, window, big hutch, and a full-wall sliding mirror closet.
