Re: MRAs

Well if your commitment to feminism is so weak you can turn to misogyny because you don't like to hear people complain about said misogyny, well... yeah, you must see why that's pathetic, right?

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Who the fuck says I am a misogynist? I support (sane) feminist campaigns. I also support (sane) men's campaigns. Because, contrary to what radical feminists on Tumblr want you to believe, MEN do have some legitimate complaints and issues they need help on.

Honestly, I consider you to be pathetic because you are so narrow minded and brainwashed by the internet feminism you can't understand that extremism on either side is stupid as fuck.

da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
So the answer to one side's extremism is for you to declare allegiance to the other extremists?

What I consider pathetic is someone aligning themselves with the harmful extremists of movement to spite another movement they don't completely disbelieve in.

The only people who think being contrary is edgy and deep are fifth graders.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Considering I don't ever see MRAs on here (a completely neutral place) whining about feminists, MRAs are slowly becoming the lesser of two evils. At least MRAs keep their whining to their own areas. Also, I never said anything about hanging out with the extremists of MRAs.

completely new anon

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I consider f!s to lean towards the left myself. Or at least to the US's concept of left. Not extreme by any means, however.

And while, MRAs are as vocal or wide spread as feminists, in my experience, there's obviously still instances where they go outside their own spaces.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
wat even

if you want to be an mra just be one ffs you don't need some tragic backstory of how the mean feminists drove you to it

also like where are the non-extremist mras? examples plz bc if there is actually a self-identified movement of men for men's rights that doesn't spend all of its time so there!ing feminists why wouldn't you declare yourself one without goading?

also are there any problems men face that are not a result of the double standard of the patriarchal roots of our society and wouldn't be greatly resolved by furthering actual feminism?

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Ah Patriarchy. The "Boogeyman" of feminists everywhere. (I once saw someone say that women being mean to each other was the result of the patriarchy. Apparently idiots like that don't understand they are basically saying women are so weak they can't think for themselves because of the ppaattttrrriiiaarrccchhhyyyyyyyyy).

Some MRAs I like.
http://siryouarebeingmocked.tumblr.com/
http://permutationofninjas.org/ (read their basics http://permutationofninjas.org/basics)
http://talking-fedora.tumblr.com/

Hell even on Reddit /mensrights none of the top posts are the whole "Fedora wearing neckbeard" stereotype some people like to use.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh you're one of those idiots who thinks they developed completely independant from the environment they were raised in. Ok.

And all three of your links especially the ninja one were focused on hating on feminists, not men's rights so bye.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Where did you see that? WHERE? You literally took less than 10 minutes. Please, go hang out in some feminist commune without internet and leave the normal people alone.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
SYABM is not an MRA. Says so right in his about him. Same for fedora. And even though I saw some objectionable crap I probably should have just said the fact that they both don't identify as MRA is enough to disqualify them as proof of non-extreme MRAs.

Of the first ten of Ninja's basics titles seven are focused on feminism. Doesn't seem much like he's for men's rights as he is focused on attacking feminism which is two separate issues.

Also go fuck yourself. I don't even identify as feminist and again go fuck yourself you have no claim to either the internet or calling yourself normal.

You must be new? Welcome.

f!s is actually a very liberal-leaning place. I would certainly not call it "neutral". MRAs don't come here or if they do they don't say anything because people would shout them down immediately. And I don't really think that would be a bad thing because MRAs basically come across to me as whining about teh poor menz and talking about how evil feminists are and now they're turning our society into one that oppresses men and just augh, stfu to all of that. Being a feminist does NOT mean you don't care about issues that pertain to men and that assumption is the problem of the people who make it.

Re: da

I'm happy to report that you do not speak for all of us.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
DA. Likewise, I am happy that you, fellow nonny, do not speak for all of us either. So in that, I guess we agree, even though we disagree otherwise.

If you're one of those feminists who think feminism means "caring about women to the expense of men" rather than "advancing women for the sake of gender equality" then I'm very happy you don't speak for me. (Too bad so many other people think you do.)

Re: da

How am I speaking for anyone? I'm saying "X does not necessarily mean Y". Maybe you are a feminist who doesn't give two shits about men's issues*, but I never said all feminists did care, just that not all didn't.

*by which I mean things like circumcision and paternal rights...and that's about it. There aren't a lot of unique "men's rights" and one reason I side-eye MRAs so hard is because of that. There isn't a lot to unify behind since men don't have a lot of problems as a group, and it ends up basically being code for "I hate feminism".

Here's the god's honest truth though

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-11-25 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
People, male female and any other off-binary you want to throw out? They are by and large dicks. or at least have the potential to be dicks.

No matter what environment, if it's larger then like, 10 people, you eventually are gonna have some dicks.

Anywhere you live, any laws, any culture, you'll find some dicks. Sometimes legendary dicks.

when your best bet is someone who is deeply committed to evopsych, i don't know how strong your movement is

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Have you...been outside of FS or tumblr? You cannot go anywhere without running into an extremist MRA if you so much as mention a feminist issue. They'll come in droves attacking you, sometimes with death threats or rape threats.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. Being swayed so easily because you have no real investment in any movement other than how the internet feels about it is really childish.

Re: OP

The part that gets me about this is this assumption that just because someone has disdain for MRAs you seem to think it means they automatically are an extremist on the feminist end.

Like, what? how do you get that
