Makes me think of Anastasia Krupnik.

I read the thread above about ideal homes and it made me think about how I'd read a book when I was little with a girl who had a tower bedroom and how I'd thought that was the coolest thing ever but I couldn't for the life of me remember which book (thought it might have been one of Judy Blume's) then I come down here and see you mention Anastasia Krupnik and that's her isn't it?! I haven't thought about this is twenty years! Did the room have wallpaper with carriages or wagon wheels or something like that?

Yes! A tower bedroom and wallpaper with Victorian-era pictures of people on bicycles. I think those might have been two separate houses, though? IIRC the family moves partway through the series, and while Anastasia loves the thought of living in a tower she hates to leave behind the wallpaper people, whom she has given names and backstories.

Of course, yes, that's it. Thank you, anon!
