This is the main thing that turned me off from becoming a full-time freelance translator. I love translating things when they're things that I'm interested in - I can spend hours on it, and I've done plenty of fansubbing and scanlating over the years.

And then my father asked me if I could translate some technical documents for his job. It was the most hideously boring thing ever and I HATED it. I like the idea of doing it part-time on the side and being able to pick and choose what I want to work on, but if I had to do it full-time? I think I would genuinely grow to despise it, unless I lucked out enough to land a job translating nothing but manga or anime. (Even video games can be boring because of all of the technical stuff involved, such as error messages, system menus, etc.)
