Oh dude. Gothel is a wank machine because people will heavily argue about the "did she love Rapunzel or the hair" thing anywhere on the internet. It's kinda polarizing imo.
I might have over-identified and got the abusive love angle too, but I ain't gonna fight about it. I'm sticking with that she was one of the best nightmare villains in Disney due to the possible stockholm syndrome (and it's reverse thing i can't remember what it's called) and the emotional abuse.
