I'm glad it's working for you but for me, there's ONLY the TV show, and the comics is just a way of trying to repair a major story fuck up.

But for me, I'm always going to have the picture of her actually going through physical withdrawal at the end of Wrecked. And for that matter, Willow tripping on the ceiling of the "magic crack" house.

Yeah, I actually like how it's not a straight up retcon, but instead more like treats it more like a miss-diagnoses.

Even if you don't like, or even despise the comics, I STRONGLY suggest you at least pick up the Willow miniseries; Above all, it's a character study about Willow's relationship with magic. Reading the wikipedia pages for the other comics should be enough to put you up to date!

Also Illyria's miniseries is gorgeous as well! and both are just 4 issue limited runs.

But yeah!! I really believe the Willow miniseries would be a great palette cleanser about the whole Willow drugs/magic bad taste.
