For me, why I'm more into fanfic than watching porn or reading pro erotica is the specificity of bodies and character. I personally find imperfection hotter than perfection, and most of the characters I'm most into aren't physically perfect. It's way more compelling and emotional. YMMV.

I couldn't agree more. Also, those little references to imperfections the OP seems to find gratuitous or counterproductive make the characters more real to me -> the scene comes across hotter/more emotionally gripping.
