I don't think it makes you a parasite. Donating to charities because you like receiving the items in the post isn't a terrible thing. If you were jumping for joy because "Yay, natural disaster - lemme go look at fandomaid!" or *causing* the disasters, that'd be bad, but donating to get letters and parcels isn't a bad thing in itself.

I'm sorry you don't have anyone sending you letters and parcels just because. :(

I've only seen fandomaid spring up after natural disasters, not things like warehouse fires, so I find the mental image of a person sitting behind their computer causing an earthquake or a tornado to be an excellent premise for a film pitch to the SyFy network.
