But Meyer tends to tell stuff and show the opposite.

Yeah, I think that pretty much sums it up. And you know, I could've dealt with Bella's self-absorbed, whiny, manipulative nature, Edward's controlling, condescending stalkeriness and Jacob's inability to understand that no means no...if Meyer had ever acknowledged within the text (or at all, really) that these are deeply unhealthy character flaws instead of portraying them as perfect virtues.
