Hell no. Kansas and Missouri (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleeding_Kansas) had a bitter and violent sibling rivalry that only recently began to resolve itself as a calmer frenemies situation.

Missouri is trying to become more sophisticated and urban but is still firmly of grounded in a the farmland and hickish behavior, especially in the summers when it gets drunk and lives at the lake.

Kansas is a farmer with uber-conservative semi-isolationist views.

HELL, I damn near live in both states and didn't even think of that event. Much better character development, there.
