There are a lot of things to take into account. Not just how the body dies but how it was treated after death. This not only takes care of rotting and what that looks like, but also any bloatedness, depending on how long after death you find the body, and where the blood and other body fluids have settled. It's also not just sight. It's how the body smells and feels. The skin of a dead body doesn't bounce back like that of the living. I could go on.

A lot of times in TV they just put a bunch of pale makeup on a person and say it's a dead body. That... that is wrong.
