I like those stories. I always figure I'm doing good, informing little girls (and adults sometimes) that it's okay to be different and that options are out there.

I remember when I was 10 or 12 and this one camp counselor didn't shave and all the other girls made fun of her, but I was just fascinated. I didn't even know that was a thing I could choose to (not) do! Which seems silly, but it was just so mind blowing at the time. And it took me years to get comfortable with it, but now I don't ever shave and I love my body and I give a lot of the credit for that to that one camp counselor and all the other women out there rocking their body hair and showing me and the world that it's okay.

I love educating the masses, one by one. I like to think the thought will percolate and pop up again when they hit that age.

I had a similar experience with my counselors, and it included things like being totally ok wearing a tanktop with a perfect movie star figure. We get so sucked into what the media tells us, and don't realize it unless someone opens our eyes at a later age. Camp sure seems like a great place for learning you'll figure out, later!
