Bummer

If it makes you feel better there were a bunch of school girls on my train, about 15 years or so, and only one of them had shaven legs. It wasn't mentioned, no-one seemed to give a shit. I only really noticed because of this thread. XD

I did hope that when they start shaving its through their own choice and not teasing/bullying.

Oh, it didn't bother me that much. Yea it kinda sucked they were being so judgmental at such a young age, but they'll grow out of it or they won't. (Hopefully they do, spending so much time and energy judging people you don't even know sounds tiring.)

At the same time, I knew I wasn't going to have a meaningful conversation about societal expectations based on media representations of the ideal woman with 9 y/os, so I didn't try. Just said it was my choice, and they'll chew on that over the next few years.

I think it was more shocking than the fact I didn't have a boyfriend ("You HAVE to have a boyfriend, everyone needs a boyfriend!" Emphasis theirs.). So many more opportunities in that little tidbit. -_-;
