There is also always a chance that I could be killed waiting for the bus or walking down the street, someone could rob me on the way to the store or the plane I am in could fall down. Living your life thinking something terrible is going to happen all the time isn't a way I want to live.

Full disclosure: I understand that people live in places where locking the door is advised and I would too if I lived in there. I on the other hand grew up in a society where no one locks their doors when they are at home and awake, because we don't have to, doing it would mean I would be looked at as basically paranoid, and I assume most other people in this thread who like me don't lock their doors grew up or live in a similar area.
