I'm okay with people drawing what ifs. What if X was of the opposite gender, what if X was POC, what if X had a disability.

People insisting that X character is whataver shit they want because muh representation and muh equality and you're opressing them if you say that they are full of shit, those people are the problem. Someone said to me some months ago that because they are a POC and a minority they have the right to insist on characters being POC (and I'm not talking about headcanons here but the actual characters on the canon story) and I'm racist if I say that the characters aren't.

Then again you'll never be systematically erased, you're already being cartered to, so the full on backslash is queasy to me. That even OP e.g wouldn't want to be associated with other people liking POC!Eren and makes a secret out of it (to get brownie points from f!s or what??) is just uncomfortable to me. There are so many people who are assholes about POC head canons as well, where the fanartists never bothered anybody.

Can't we just agree that assholes are assholes and POC reinterpretation is fun and maybe in some ways eye opening (at least to this anon), but not a must have?

That or arguing their interpretation is superior to original canon and saying the original creator is bad for it. Shit's going on in homestuck right now again. New Merch doesn't have enough "diversity" on account of not imposing some sort of quota on the artists to draw certain things.

well, last year they had diversity and people and artists liked it.

Now there's like, fucking none of it, not even for body type diversity. The only one coded as black is Condy of all fucking characters.

Maybe the artists just don't care. Not unlike nightvale, some people already have their headcanons for the characters and they just aren't in line with yours. It's not on them to give you that diversity.

I'm sorry* Jane isn't asian or chunky enough for you or whatever but do you really want the artists being given a quota or something?

Can I ask how the Condesce is "coded as black"? Because if it's just her quirk/speaking mannerisms I honestly think that's a bit of a stretch. She seems more like she's coded as someone on the internet trying to sound cool, who also enjoys fish puns and rap, in other words she talks like herself. And after Meenah was introduced I listened to a very good reading of her lines, by a black woman, so I do hear her that way and it's my headcanon for humanstuck, but I don't see how her character is making a statement either way about black people.
