I'd like to see Ramsay paired with the Countess Bathory.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
This. Or Delphine Lalaurie.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that OTP from hell could work.

Why are fangirls so obsessed with rape

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I swear they're worse than white male sci-fi writers from the 1950s working off their sexual frustration on their black-and-white Mars-needs-women B-movies. Or Victorians.

Because power dynamics are interesting and sexy to some people. I'm sure your kinks (or lack of kinks) would bore or disgust some people too.

I'M DISGUSTED THAT YOU DON'T LIKE UKEIFIED MPREG VIA ALIENS-MADE-THEM-DO-IT IN A BUFFY CROSSOVER

This.

It is a very common fantasy with everyone.

Yeah, because men never get off to the thought of raping women or violent non-con pornography.

Oh wait.

You obviously didn't read the comment you just replied to.

It's saying women are "obsessed" with rape in a rather insulting manner? As though men aren't just as "obsessed" with rape either?

Re: Why are fangirls so obsessed with rape

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Not quite the same is it? those 'men'* are monsters, or monsters in training since those men are statistically VERY likely to actually commit a rape (there was a study done a while back, and I can't remember the exact figure, but it was in the high 80% of the men they surveyed that said they would rape a woman if they thought they could get away with it) where as women who like rape are simply redressing a societal power imbalance.

*Inverted commas since the word man refers to a human male, and I do not believe these males are human.

Ahahahahah! Well, you're getting slightly more amusing in your trolling; I'll give you that. Better than the endless boredom of you bleating MRA MRA.

where as women who like rape are simply redressing a societal power imbalance.

This is what feminists actually believe.

OMG, NO! This is not what feminists actually believe!

We believe in equal rights for women and that is it. I know there are some crazy people out there that say crazy things all the time, but that doesn't change the definition of what a feminist is.

It is very disturbing (even among feminist) after the study came out that stated in the last 12 months just as many men were raped by women as woman were raped by men, but when they summarised it they complete left that part out. The feminist has problems with that study as well. With the way the worded it as though most of the rapes against men didn't count as rape, dismissing their own findings etc.

The reality is that rape isn't (and never has been) a women's issue, and anyone with a brain would know that. It is stereotype that plays into the women are weak idea. But because of the women are weak idea, men are told they can't be raped, therefore it isn't reported or they tell themselves they must be wrong, or studies dismiss there own findings on the subject when they are trying to compare the two and show women as the victims.

It doesn't matter how many men admit they were raped by women if no one believes them when they say it.

ADwD read to me like Ramsay *had* sexually abused Theon beyond just making him perform oral on Jeyne, just that GRRM didn't have the stomach/nerve to write male/male rape as graphically as he wrote male/female rape.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I think it'd be just plain ridiculous if Ramsay, the most sexually sadistic and fucked up character in the series who's clearly got a disturbing fixation on Reek, never once sexually abused Theon beyond the Jeyne incident. Especially when you got things like him watching Theon have a bath, kissing him, calling him "his Reek", castrating him, telling him he can't take his clothes off unless he tells him, involving him in sexual situations, etc. I feel like vague little things like that hint towards sexual abuse.

OTOH if GRRM ever went out of his way to say he wasn't I'd probably rage a little, mostly because I'm tired of reading page after page of women getting raped with no instance or mention of men getting raped in sight (even in situations where it'd make sense like at the Wall) beyond that one boy on Victarion's fleet. It's unrealistic and adds to the misguided belief that men never get raped.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Srsly. Well said about men getting raped, too.

The rape of Theon is no more than implied compared to what happens to women, women being routinely reminded of rape, men talking about it, and this thing about pink being one of Ramsay's colors? (In the book, don't know about the show) Sounds like a bad stereotype.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
To be fair, pink is the Bolton color because it's the color of flayed flesh, any unfortunate implications in that case are incidental I'd say.

Also, Theon is still one out of the few POV characters to undergo any sort of sexual abuse/torture or dehumanization and his is prolonged and rather extreme. Though it bothers me that GRRM had to go and include Jeyne, as though he had to outdo himself and make the most grotesque sexual abuse be done to a woman (or 13 year old girl in this case), yet again -_-

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
Well.

Not that I was ever planning to, but this thread has pretty much convinced me that I never want to read these effing books.

Jesus fucking Christ, GRRM.

Well, that's most likely canon, so lucky you. ^^

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hate to admit it, but I had a similar thought when I first heard about it (before I got into the actual series) until I heard he'd cut Theon's dick off.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Too hardcore for you?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there's that. I prefer non-con in fiction when the victim gets off. I can't enjoy it if they're not capable.
