in "nessie's" case she has very advanced brain development and is able to understand more mature emotions at a relatively young age (she grows up hella fast as well) in the books at least and I remember her being accepting of the imprinting thing and somewhat possessive over jacob so she may not be the best example to use in this case though it's still creepy. Quill's situation might be a better example because he imprinted on a perfectly normal and human baby who will age normally and likely has normal cognitive function for her age. Her situation makes me feel much more uneasy
