I am in a medical field of study, and I can safely reassure you that diabetes is considered the only disease state that is truly reversible through diet and exercise.

However, you do have to diet and you do have to exercise, and not just occasionally either. If you want to see a change, you need to lose fat and gain muscle mass. If you would rather lose your vision and the sensation in your extremities, continue your current habits.
