I disliked Ross. I would've preferred Rachel with Joey, even though they were really...odd, about how that one played out. Not sure if that one counts as a false lead or what.

At least Joey actually liked Rachel and not dream popular high school girl.

I like Ross, but when he wasn't dating Rachel or being creep about her when they weren't together... Which unfortunately happened a lot of the time, lol :P I think there was a mixture of the writers seriously wanting to pursue J/R and using it as a stalling tactic for R/R. The fan and cast backlash against J/R was probably what made the writers end it so abruptly, along with MLB signing up for the Joey spinoff in Season 10. Which was, again, unfortunate because Joey and Rachel were much more compatible, funnier, and sweeter together. And because the Joey spinoff sucked.
