I get why it's frustrating. But I don't think you're comparing apples to apples here. The fandoms have really different personalities.

They're both really awful dynamics, but I'm not gonna judge somebody's fictional sexytime preferences. I get more of a "romance" vibe from Hannigram, though. Not that it's less terrible, but the way it's played on screen is almost like Hannibal thinks he loves Will, so I can see why people get into it. I can't with the other, because Ramsay is just obviously a sadistic nightmare who loves torture.

I wouldn't say it's as black and white as that, Ramsay doesn't care about Theon himself, but he seems to care about "Reek" to the extent one would with their property. And he clearly had some kind of twisted fondness for original Reek if he went out of his way to make him live on in Theon.

But yes, I'd say it's a result of the aforementioned fandoms having really different personalities. Like an anon said above, GoT fandom is unfortunately full of dudebros.

It's not the dudebros who make GOT fandom stifling, it's the SJWs.

It was actually a "dudebro" (not really, but I'm sure tumblr/fandom in general would consider him as one) who got me into the books 10 years ago. "Dudebro" and "not interested in fandom/shipping" aren't necessarily the same thing.
