I took a drawing class at a local place (actually it was in the back of an art supply store) which was amazingly helpful and quite affordable.

Other than that, the best resource I can say is to draw from life rather than from other drawings or photos. Once you get used to drawing what you actually see instead of what you assume (aka trees aren't triagles or circles, there aren't hard lines in the human face, etc) that's most of the bad habits gone right there. :D

Thanks for the tip. I'd love to take a drawing class but I don't think there are any available to me at the moment. I can try drawing some of the things around me though.
