I think, like most places, it's about where you look. I encounter a LOT of SJW stuff because that's what my sister is into, and by association I hear a lot about the more extreme side of SJW-ness. But the people I follow and who follow me back on Tumblr are perfectly nice. Though I do find it a bit harder to make friends on Tumblr; I don't really have any Tumblr friends, but I do have Facebook, Twitter, LJ, etc. friends. So I'm not as fond of it as a medium for discussion, but I don't think it's inherently this evil pit of awful.
