I as driving on a freeway (three lanes) and was on the middle one. The person in front of me was really slow and kept getting slower, so I switched to the faster lane. I definitely looked very carefully if there was someone behind me, but didn't see anyone. There was a very long-stretched bend in the road, so I would have seen anyone coming from behind if they had stuck to the speed limit (~80mph I think. I have to convert from km/h). The guy that came from behind though, was very much over the speedlimit (I estimate around 110?) so I couldn't possibly have been able to see him before veering into the other lane because of the bend in the road.

So naturally, he had to slow down a bit, and he really was pissed about that. I got back into the other lane as soon as I had passed the car in front of me so he could drive on at his original speed. But instead of doing just that, he pulled over pretty close in front of me and slammed on the breaks. At over 80, on a freeway, with someone else behind me. I was really lucky that the car behind me was so slow. So basically, he provoked an accident because he was pissed about having to slow down a little. He drove on after that. I really wish I'd had someone else in the car with me because with a witness, I would have sued the asshole.

hoooooly shit that's...DAMN. Some people are so fuck damn entitled.

And are we talking MPH? Because if so, 110? WHAT? I have never seen anyone go that fast. That's so dangerous I can't even. (The fastest I've ever gone was about 90, on a fast freeway, and I only accelerate that much if I want to pass someone quickly, and even then it's really rare.)

What confused me about that situation was mostly: Didn't he fucking get that he put his own life on the line there? I mean, if there had been an accident, he would have been involved - no doubt about it - and at that speed, it wouldn't just have been a little dent in the car. No fucking brain, that guy - self-preservation going out the window in favour of indignation.

I think so? I tried to convert it - speed limit was 130 km/h and he was at about 180 km/h. Though German freeways don't always have a speed limit so it's not too unusual to see people at 200 km/h. 160 km/h is quite normal on some routes.

Wow, ok, 130 KPH comes to about 80 MPH, which is higher than any speed limit I've seen in the States. Highest I've seen is 70 (about 110 KPH) (and I usually drive 80 or a wee bit faster on those highways).

180 KPH comes to...about 110 MPH. so yeah, and holy HELL that's fast. and 200??? that's about 125 MPH and that's absolutely fucking insane. I mean I have a bit of a lead foot myself, but that's INSANE.

120-130 is actually pretty standard here. I sometimes drive about 160+ when the road is clear and there's no speed limit.
German freeways are pretty popular for tourists (and generally people who don't live here) because just about every other country has pretty strict speed limits and they get to play at being racers here.

And we probably will never get a general speed limit for all freeways, even though it's proposed again and again. But unlimited speed on freeways is something that's sacred to German people or something XD

The problem with high speeds here is that speeding tickets are still fairly cheap even though the prices went up a bit recently, so it doesn't really hurt the drivers of those really fast and expensive cars. Only thing that works is taking their drivers licenses... (and even then, some drive anyway)

That sounds dangerous to me tbh. But if it's an interstate and there's not a lot of traffic, maybe not...

Wow. What an ass. I can get being annoyed if someone gets in front of you in the passing lane going slower than you, but the brake-checking is completely uncalled for and stupid and dangerous. Even if he was annoyed, he should have just kept going. Not worth risking anyone's life over, even his useless one.
