Re: BAD DRIVER RAGE THREAD

(Anonymous) 2013-12-05 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I once got told to "learn to drive, bitch" by a girl who had rolled down her window with one hand while clutching her cell phone in the other, and this was after she was trying to run her car into me at a two-way intersection where I had the right of way.

So I told her in a kind and graceful manner,

"FUCK YOU"

Not my shining moment, but I have to admit. I hate. I hate. I HATE when people use cell phones while driving. Talking, texting, hands-free, I don't care. It's all bad. It's all distracting. And everyone in the driver seat is operating a machine that weighs thousands of pounds FFS. Just because people ought to be defensive drivers doesn't give others a green light (haha) to be fucking stupider and more careless than they need to be.

I'm going to respectfully disagree about cell phones, at least in part. If you're doing hands-free, it is no more distracting than having a conversation with someone in the passenger seat. I don't even have a problem with talking on a phone with one hand since I drive with one hand a lot anyway, especially on the freeway or other long stretches of road where I don't have to turn. (ymmv with that part though.) Texting, I definitely agree with - not acceptable. I get checking your phone at a red light (but ffs pay attention to when it turns green!) but texting while driving is a big no-no to me.

As for the girl in your story, she's a major asshole with major issues and I hope she stops driving like an idiot. :/
