YEAH BUT WHO

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-12-05 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Gal Godot...

http://www.eonline.com/news/487367/gal-gadot-cast-as-wonder-woman-in-man-of-steel-sequel

Really? Really?

She doesn't look like she could do a goddamn pushup, let alone kick some serious ass.

Also, the movie will in all likelihood be shit (it's not batman and that's all DC can do). So this fills me with less excitement then disappointment. Cause now there's LESS likelihood of a good wonder woman movie.

She doesn't even have enough mass to have an actual butt, let alone any visible muscle mass (which you need to pull off Diana). Her superpower is Male Gaze.

There's less likelihood of a good Wonder Woman movie because Wonder Woman represents everything anyone other than Disney-Marvel wants out of a female superhero.

She's probably going to end up fucking Superman.

"She doesn't look like she could do a goddamn pushup"

Look at Christian Bale before the Nolan trilogy, though. The movie only just started filming; she's got plenty of time to bulk up.

I hope they give her blue contacts at least

Re: YEAH BUT WHO

(Anonymous) 2013-12-05 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed on all points. I appreciate them getting someone who has vaguely the same coloring as Wonder Woman, but who decided someone super skinny was the right choice? I hope they require her to seriously bulk up or something. :/

I hope so. Wonder Woman needs to look a little more buff.

Vaguely is right

I'm not normally one for ethnic casting, but... why not get a greek lady? I can't believe hollywood can't find a lady with greek blood (and the right acccent or ability to imitate it) who can do goddamn pushups and can act,

Edit: yes I know there are amazons with races clearly other then greek. But Diana is not one of them.

Obviously, we must judge her on how she looks.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-05 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she did join the Israeli Army and serve her two-year term as sports trainer in the Israel Defense Forces. So, I think she could do a push-up or two.

You couldn't tell though.

And you need to.

It's like you're saying that someone can't change the way they look for a role. I'm pretty sure Affleck is going to have a hefty work-out schedule.

This is a still with Chris Evans from a movie that came out the same year as Captain America: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1488567296/tt1582248?ref_=ttmd_md_nxt

Linda Hamilton got ripped between Mr. Destiny (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1461882368/tt0100201?ref_=ttmi_mi_all_sf_5) and Terminator 2 (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm4202201344/tt0103064?ref_=ttmi_mi_all_sf_4)

Yes. BUT if an actress NEEDS to change her body for the role of wonder woman, then she is not suitable to play wonder woman. Wonder woman is more than just a muscular woman, she is supposed to be an inspiration. weedy scrawny women are NOT the type of people who deserve to be given this honor. The actress who will play wonder womans need to be more than just a 6 month workout schedule.

Oh fuck you don't even start.

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-12-05 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Where the fuck are you taking this? Keep your weird body type sjw-esque crap out of my legit complaint!

I don't think she can pull off the look training or no (assuming she even does training cause hey, "super strength" and bullshit).

If she can actually pull off the look, I'll take back my cracks about her appearance (though there's other reasons this could be bad).

So? The rule on this is simple: Superheroines - Skinny bitches need not apply.

Is she a skinny bitch? Could Gina Torres crush her like a Volvo in a junkyard? between her toes? Yes? Then she needs to keep the fuck away from Wonder Woman.

What makes her a bitch? The fact that she's thin?

And what the hell does weight have to do with superpowers?

Re: Obviously, we must judge her on how she looks.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
It's just a figure of speech.

And I don't mean skinny as in "not fat" I mean skinny as in "lacking the muscles mass to even lift a lasso"

Re: Obviously, we must judge her on how she looks.

Well, I think of bitch as an insult and the way you used it certainly seems like one.

And I know you're being hyperbolic, but lassos don't actually weigh that much (seriously, less than ten pounds) and I'm not really sure why a magic lasso would weigh more. And yes, I do think she can lift that much. If you mean use a lasso, well, I've seen kids do it (and, yes, it is absolutely a skill, but I'm not sure muscle mass is much of a factor).

insanenoodlyguy: (Default)

A lot

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-12-05 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
First off, even with super strength, generally in American comics you still are expected to be in some good physical shape.

Secondly, Diana specifically IS SUPPOSED TO NOT BE A RAIL.

Yes, Amazons by default come out tougher, heartier, stronger and faster then the average man by a good margin. But they don't stop there. They TRAIN. THEY WORK HARD.

Diana is a good deal stronger then the average Amazon even before she got her powers because she PUT IN THE TIME SINCE SHE WAS A KID.

In short, she should be built like a different actress from F&TF: More Gina Carano then Gal Gadot

she can gain muscle mass, but can ben affleck NOT be ben affleck?

i can't believe i just read the phrase "Ben Affleck's Batman" ugh heebie-jeebie chills all over my body why is this happening
