Try phoenixsong.net and sugarquill.net - those generally have the sorts of fics I think you're looking for, though SugarQuill has been defunct as a site for years, so a lot of the better fics were written before the last book. They're also only canon pairings. There's also a genfic fest, hp_holidaygen, that's actually posting fics right now.

It's not that you're being picky - it's more that the fandom is spread out, even now when it's so much quieter.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for these sites! I didn't even think of checking out lj for gen Harry Potter comms.

I suppose that is true, but after rereading my posts, I think I came across as a bit picky. Probably could have worded it better too. Since the Harry Potter fandom was so huge and is still fairly big, I thought that maybe there would be a decent amount of plotty, long genfic.

Well, then I'm picky too because those are exactly my qualifications, and it's embarrassing how long I've been in the HP fandom. :P

Knowing that I'm not alone with these qualifications makes me feel better about my request.

Oh, how I wish that I could have gotten into this years ago, back in the early 00's. I didn't gave internet back then though and by the time I did, I had lost interest in the series. How long have you been ibn the fandom?

Since 2000. I was in it pretty much right as it was starting to get big.

Must have been quite an experience to be in the fandom so early. I always get into fandoms late so I miss out on a lot.
