I admit I do this too, petty as it is.

I dunno what it is. Is it that someone has a special experience and don't want to share it with anyone else? And having someone else mention they like the song kind of intrudes upon that experience and/or forces the first fan to "share" what they don't want to share? Also pettiness?

I once rolled my eyes when I was reading a fandom friend's blog and they mentioned they were "adopting" a song from an album dear to me (at the time) to express themselves, because they were going through a weird time and were "adopting" a bunch of songs for self-expression. Looking back, it was really dumb to be so annoyed about it. But damn, it was *mine*, LMAO.
