I'm definitely going to miss it when it inevitably gets cancelled. I love the show and Will's my favorite.

That stupid 8:00PM Thursday timeslot didn't help matters much. They should have stuck to their original plan of airing the show when OUAT went on hiatus.

It's being cancelled? What? I thought it was doing really well...

That being said, I agree that this show is all kinds of awesome. The OUAT fans who bailed on it early are really missing out.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
it doesn't have the necessary ratings a big network show needs to continue. (or the same ratings as OUaT).

if it were a CW show the ratings would be totally fine, but alas. it was doomed when they put it in the same timeslot as NBC's BBT.

Big Bang Theory is on CBS.

I am atrociously completely behind on the plot, but I really like the show so far. I really like Alice. But wasn't it originally supposed to be just one season? If they can finish the story well, I'll be satisfied.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Is it actually being cancelled, as in "There are more episodes but we won't show them," or just "the network has declined a second season"? Because it was never intended as more than a thirteen-episode run.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
It was billed as a 13 episode limited series but it was clear that if it had been a success they would have ordered another season or more episodes for this season. The ratings are very bad and it is predicted by pundits (who supposedly know this type of thing) that it will not be picked up for a second season. But nothing has been announced officially as yet.

(I wonder how badly I can spell something before autocorrect doesn't correct?)

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Actually no. That was the original plan, but then it got expanded.

http://tvline.com/2013/06/28/once-upon-a-time-in-wonderland-additional-episodes/

But since the ratings have been so bad, I'm not sure what's going to happen. It will have aired eight episodes when it airs its fall finale next week. But there's been no return date set for the rest of the episodes.

I enjoy it more than the mother-ship too, but by all accounts it's going to be a 13 episode story with a beginning, middle and end. I'd rather have it stop there rather than get stretched out into the convoluted mess that OUaT has become.

Never liked the original enough to get into this.

Too much in the "I like Fable, fuck this" camp.

Surely you mean Fables, not Fable, the video game?

Although of course we have The Wolf Among Us now.

Secret 10 - Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-06 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the actresses Emma Rigby and Sophie Lowe playing The Red Queen and Alice on the TV series "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland". The Red Queen is a woman with light skin and long blonde hair done up in an elegant bun with a red and silver head-piece. She is wearing a flashy but expensive-looking dress and silver earrings. She is smiling at Alice and touching her arm in a disarming gesture. Alice is a woman with light skin and long, wavy dark blonde hair. She is wearing a dark red leather vest? dress? with a brown leather belt and looking warily at the Red Queen. They are somewhere outdoors.]

I'm really upset it looks like this show is going to be cancelled.

I love it so much more than its counterpart. Everyone says it's too straightforward and simple but I think those are advantages. The character motivations are solid and I find it really charming. Once Upon A Time has just turned into a convoluted mess and I don't feel for any of those characters the way I do for these.

I adore everything the Red Queen is.

I like Wonderland as well (more than OUAT as of now). Alice is awesome and I like the cast.

I'd rather it not be cancelled too. I think it makes a good 13 ep show. As long as Wonderland stays away from crossovers with OUAT and keeps more in Wonderland than out, it really has promise.

I didn't like the Red Queen at first. But she's grown on me. I like everybody now (and I really hope Jafar stays evil and doesn't go through some redemption at the every end).

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I've never seen Wonderland, and actually wasn't even aware it existed until a couple of weeks ago, so I can't comment on the show itself. But, if that's the Red Queen? Then the Queens in the Once-verse seem to universally have style.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sad about it too. Alice is my favorite, but I enjoy all the characters. I hope it at least gets a chance to wrap the story up. And I agree that OUAT has turned into a convoluted mess. I'm still watching, but I'm ready for this Neverland arc to be over, and for some storylines that don't revolve around Rumple or Regina.

I completely agree the straightforwardness being a strength, since it has a much stronger sense of story and continuity than OUaT ever managed. The only thing the original does better is that I think it has better characters on a whole, though it's also had some terrible ones too.

I'm iffy on the Red Queen from what I've seen so far (I think I may be behind an episode or two). She actually reminds me a lot of early Regina, who was pretty damn stiff. But Lana Parrilla eventually grew into the role and I think Emma Rigby has been getting there.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
that's really disappointing :( i don't care for the original but i love this spin-off so much, i wonder why the ratings aren't that good...

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
I stopped watching it after a few episodes. Alice was too perfect for my tastes - always the best at everything, so smart, so great, so combat savvy despite being locked in a cell for about a decade(?) - and quite frankly, the whole set and CGI just looked really badly done and cheap.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, if you'd stuck with the show, you'd know now that your impression of Alice is incorrect. :) I agree she suffers from some Mary Sue-isms, but she's not quite as bad as the first impression, her skills actually make sense.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, well, now I don't know if I should catch up because you said that or be glad I stopped watching so I won't be too sad if/when it's cancelled...

(Anonymous) 2013-12-06 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you. I'm down for anything to do with Alice in Wonderland, and this reminds me of Syfy's Alice miniseries from a few years back; I find myself shipping the Knave/Alice like I shipped Hatter/Alice in that miniseries.

It'll be sad if/when we don't get a proper resolution.
