No, they aren't awesome. They all look like anorexic bimbos. And they are pretty ugly too.

It makes me laugh when people claim that they look ~completely different~ because they have different faces and paint jobs.

Like, okay, but you do realize that that doesn't make them completely different, right? They're still basically the same doll.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Actually only the bodies molds are the same, and even some of those have modifications (Robecca Steam, for example). Almost all the face molds in the line are unique, which is unprecedented for a playline.

I don't care about their bodies, I like that they're monster figures aimed at girls. Ten years ago it would've been impossible to find a zombie or vampire fashion doll and I love that it's now way more acceptable for girls to like "scary" things that were up until recently only were only aimed at boys. Sure they're all super thin, but they're fashion dolls, they need the same bodytypes so clothes can be easily interchanged amongst dolls.

Yup, this. I love that they're *monsters*. Plus, the dolls are clearly meant to be super reminiscent of the 80's and 90's is really appealing to adult collectors, on top of the fact they're adorable popular monsters.

I actually kind of agree?

I looked into Monster High hoping that the monsters would, you know, but monstrous, and while I don't mind a couple of them looking like models-who-happen-to-be-vaguely-monster-looking, all of them really looking like that really killed it for me. :/

yeah, like, here's two different interpretations of a harpy

(the witcher 2)
i like them both, and even though the first one is decidedly more cute and humanized, she still fits the bill of "monster", ya know? something more than a couple of stitches and green skin to make someone a zombie, you can still be cute with some missing chunks of skin.

Wait a second? Monsters? UGLY? HOW DARE THEY! MONSTERS SHOULD BE PRETTY ANGELS!

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, because they are supposed to be ugly and hideous like monsters are, it's not like they are fashionable and presumably attractive. Try harder next time.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
yha... but thear not cool ugly. thery boring, badly salized, fashon conshise, ugly. thats unforgivabuole.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 03:05 am (UTC)(link)

Well, to each their own. Personally, I love 'em. I like to set them up in the Thriller-dance pose.
