Questions for homosexuals

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Gay guys, do you prefer f/m ships or f/f ships?

Lesbians, do you prefer f/m ships or m/m ships?

Re: Questions for homosexuals

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
My sister is a lesbian and from what I can tell, all her ships are either f/f or f/m. I can't think of one m/m pairing she likes.

Re: Questions for homosexuals

Not gay, but according to my health teacher, when it comes to porn/erotica, men tend to like pairings that match their own, so a gay man will tend to prefer gay porn/erotica, and a heterosexual man will prefer heterosexual porn/erotica. Women, no matter their orientation, like all combinations.

So, the question is, do you mean "do you like this ship in general? Or for the porn/erotica?"

Not gay

Then I take it this wasn't for you?

Dude, you're second comment. You're jumping ahead of the Actual Gay People with some bullshit from your health teacher. This is not Health Teacher Questions. Check yoself.

As a bi man, I like m/m and f/f, in that order. Therefore, f/f over f/m. I'll always default to liking ships in fandom of sexualities not commonly depicted in mainstream media. I get enough of f/m everywhere else, including RL where I'm currently with an opposite-sex partner

*Forgot to say, I'm technically bi but by bi I mean like, 90% gay, so

This. People always seem puzzled when i say i don't really like or read f/m, but it's because that's *all there was* for years and years, and mostly all there is on tv/in the movies and in books *now*.

It's boring, and i want other things.

Lesbo here. I ship according to chemistry, so I have a pretty broad assortment of all kinds of ships. I wouldn't say I favor any one gender combination over another.

Another lesbian who's pretty much the same. Chemistry is everything.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
+1, I have a pretty even distribution of gender combinations in ships.

While I've read f/f fic, I've never actively shipped any f/f pairings. I've shipped several m/f pairings though.

I'm interested in why you're asking this question. Like, just generally curious about why only gay and lesbian and why only f/m and m/m for lesbians and only f/m and f/f for gay guys? What kind of data are you looking for here?

Re: Questions for homosexuals

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Curiosity. I always assumed gay people would be the least into the ships that didn't involve their preferred gender at all, but I felt like I noticed some gay people prefer f/f over m/f and some lesbians prefer m/m over m/f. I'm bisexual and don't know what either experience is like, so I felt like surveying.

I'm a bisexual who's only interested in dating women and I prefer f/f. Not sure if I have a preference between f/m and m/m.

I'm a bisexual woman with a preference for women, and I like f/m and f/f equally but have no interest in m/m.

I'm bisexual, but really I ship according to chemistry, but most fanfiction I read is m/m, with some m/m/f and m/f, I would read f/f if I had any ships to read f/f about.

I have two types of shipping, the one I do based on a show and which characters I find most likely (and/or has most chemistry) to end up together in the show, mostly m/f, with some same sex pairings added in. Then I have the pairings I read fanfics for, where I still find chemistry, but I know they will never end up together. Or alternatively I don't think it would be a good idea for them to end up together in the film/show/book. I still enjoy reading fanfics, but it is more based on (in my mind) fanon than actual canon, both personality and pairing vise.

did that make sense? Also you know us non straights are just people too, right? It isn't like we are aliens and think completely differently from straight people...

As a queer woman, I prefer f/m and f/f. I like the woman's/women's pleasure to be focused on. I enjoy m/m love stories in film and other media, but I don't actively ship anything m/m - it just holds no interest for me.

Asexual woman and I prefer m/m, if you're curious. Though that's mostly a porn/smut preference. I'll ship whatever based on chemistry.

Lesbian, prefer m/m ships for fic but have a lot of headcanon f/f ships as well.

Gay man. I ship based on chemistry. Preference for m/m but no real preference between m/f and f/f.

Re: Questions for homosexuals

(Anonymous) 2013-12-07 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Lesbian here.

I ship based on chemistry but sometimes I'm in the mood for certain things. Like you might wake up craving chocolate pudding, sometimes I wake up and think "Hm I could go for some dudeslash." Or femslash, or het, or gore with no romance whatsoever.

But mostly I talk about/post/commission art of f/f ships because I am tired of them being the least popular.

Gay guy. In order of preference- m/m, f/m, f/f

Lesbian, prefer m/m. F/f secondary. Zero interest in m/f.

It's not about gender. it's about gay.
