Re: Questions for homosexuals

I'm interested in why you're asking this question. Like, just generally curious about why only gay and lesbian and why only f/m and m/m for lesbians and only f/m and f/f for gay guys? What kind of data are you looking for here?

Curiosity. I always assumed gay people would be the least into the ships that didn't involve their preferred gender at all, but I felt like I noticed some gay people prefer f/f over m/f and some lesbians prefer m/m over m/f. I'm bisexual and don't know what either experience is like, so I felt like surveying.

A lot of people make this assumption, but it's based on the faulty presumption that people ship because they're personally sexually attracted to the characters. A lot of people ship because they like the dynamics the two characters have with each other, and it has nothing to do with what they are personally into. (And for some people it's a combination of both.)

I do know a lot of queer women who are mostly attracted to women in their lives, but in fandom ship mostly m/m. For a lot of them it seems to be because they like gay/queer ship dynamics best, and they're also people who are into huge fic media fandoms so there's more m/m out there than f/f, so that's what they end up shipping and reading.
