Why is it in these discussions, the idea of two consenting adults having a rational conversation where their likes and dislikes are explained and they come to a mutual understanding and compromise about what happens in the bedroom never seems to come up? Why is it always "your kinks disgust me therefore I refuse to even entertain the idea of being around you"? Why not "I don't like those kinks so we will mutually agree to not explore them"? It's like if a dude has a fantasy, he cannot ~possibly~ keep himself from succumbing to it.

I have kinks and fetishes that my SO does not. Yet, somehow, we still managed to talk it out and I have the understanding that my kinks and fetishes and fantasies will remain in my brain for my enjoyment during me time. It's like the concept is just mind-bogglingly impossible or something. Did I just luck out with an awesome SO?
