I've just gotten over having been sick for a while with horrible coughing, enough that my ribcage feels horribly bruised. I can't ever remember hurting like this from being sick before. Moving too much and even breathing too deeply are painful enough, but I just sneezed and that was the most painful thing to happen to me all day.

:/ Sucks. I've never been badly hurt by coughing itself, usually it's the fever+the catarrh that get me, but boy, can I imagine that. Get better.

I had a nasty infection in my lungs when that happened to me. I can't remember what it was called, but it felt like someone stabbing me through my ribcage. If you're still feeling in pain in a day or so, please, check with your doctor if you can, because it wasn't something that got better without anti-biotics.

Pleurisy? Oh, wait that might not be the same thing. But, yeah, get yourself checked, OP; I almost ended up in hospital thanks to a secondary infection from the "mild" flu strain that's going this year.

Does it hurt with every breath, when you stand too long, or if you put pressure on it while lying in bed? Because what I (and a doctor) thought was a pulled muscle from violent coughing turned out to be a dislocated rib. :/

The worst pain I get is what feels like really sore muscles under, and around my breasts. Breathing is ok unless I take a deep breath, standing is fine, and laying in bed is ok too, but I tend to toss and turn a while before I can fall asleep, and that hurts. Nothing has been as terrible as that sneeze. So far I'm feeling better than I was yesterday when I posted this.
