Secret 1 - Atmosphere in fanfiction
I wish fanfic would devote as much time writing love letters to the atmosphere and setting of their canon as they do writing love letters to the characters. Often, the settings are just as fascinating.

Notes
(Thank you galerian-ash and tweedisgood for the info!)
Secret 2 - Fandom darlings, celebrity
If I could have one wish it would be to be fandom's female darling. Like a sassier, tit-having Tom Hiddleston.
Secret 3 - Talking animal sidekicks in children's movies
I think people whining non-stop and refusing to see the movie because of this snowman are overreacting and being childish. IT'S A KID'S MOVIE. It's for them to enjoy, not you.
Of course those talking animal characters can be irritating. You don't have to like them. I don't like some of them either. But they're there for the kids that do like them. I absolutely LOVED Meeko when I was little and I still have a Meeko toy that I got when I was 3 or 4. If I'd seen Pocahontas for the first time as an adult I probably wouldn't have liked him much. But I'm still glad he was there because he made child me happy.
Funny how I've never heard anyone bitch about Sebastian, Abu, Mushu - or any of the others from any of the Disney Renaissance movies. Oh, right, because they are the ones most of the complainers enjoyed as children so they're off limits to criticism.
Secret 4 - Once Upon a Time, retellings/crossovers of fairy tales
I'm sad that this show exists and is successful, because I had an idea years ago for a "Grimm and edgy" epic with fairy tales all twisted together, and now if I ever do anything with it people will think it's derivative. [sad face emoticon]
I had bits and pieces of Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Snow Queen, The Three Little Pigs, The Princess Who Never Laughed/The Golden Goose, Rumpelstiltskin, Jack and the Beanstalk, Donkeyskin, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, East of the Sun West of the Moon, Rapunzel, Bluebeard, Beauty and the Beast, Diamonds and Toads, and The Seven Ravens. It was going to be so awesome. ...I thought so, anyway.
Secret 5 - FimFiction.net, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, fanfiction archives
Best fanfiction website. Period. The tag system is incredible, the way the site is set up is really good, the comments section has helpful critique...
This is the model more fanfic sites should base their systems off of. Maybe it's the best because it's only one fandom?
Secret because: I think it's better than FanFiction.Net and Archive Of Our Own which is heresy apparently.
Secret 6 - Despicable Me
I like Despicable me for Gru and the girls... but I think the minions are incredibly annoying. I wish they weren't in the films.
Secret 7 - Celebrity deaths
Whenever a celebrity dies in a dramatic, highly-documented way, I'm compelled to absorb every detail available: witness accounts, official reports, images.
Even if I didn't follow their career or if they lived and died before I was born, I want enough info to know, "Could he see it coming? Did he suffer long? How did the first people on the scene react?"
I know I'm not the only person who does this, but it's really morbid and leaves me feeling hollow after. I wish I could stop being so acutely interested by it.
Secret 8 - Frozen, ethnic representation, tumblr, social justice
After seeing Frozen, I read an article about how Kristoff's clothes were supposedly Sami-influenced, and was like, "okay, I guess tumblr was right in this one. They could've totally added some diversity by making him Sami." So I looked up pictures of Sami people.
THEY'RE WHITE. THEY ARE FUCKING WHITE AND BLONDE. DOES TUMBLR NOT REALIZE IT'S COMPLAINING ABOUT THERE NOT BEING ENOUGH WHITE AND BLONDE PEOPLE IN A MOVIE FILLED WITH WHITE AND BLONDE PEOPLE?
Secret 9 - Supernatural Kink Meme
I am tempted to fill random prompts on the kink_meme, just to get over my writer's block.
Notes
Secret 10 - The Lord of the Rings
When I am having trouble peeing in a public restroom (It's just a thing that happens to me sometimes.), I think of this scene. It works.
Secret 11 - LiveJournal, tumblr, general fandom
I don't feel any particular way about tumblr. I use it and don't have any issues with it. I've come to accept that that's where fandom's moved to.
I still can't help but feel nostalgic for the old days when my fandoms were still active on a journaling service, though. If I had known things were going to change so drastically, I wouldn't have wasted so much time not writing fanfic or enjoying fandom in the ways only a journaling service can provide.
Those days just all feel so far away now and I feel like an old woman. If I could have LiveJournal back the way it used to be, I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Secret 12 - Mark Ruffalo (actor), Now You See Me (film)
For the first time I'm the fan who just does not get the attraction.
Not Secret - Star Trek The Next Generation?
Wheeeeeeeen the moon hits your eye
like a big pizza pie, that's amore!
