...Why is that stupid? Everyone makes friends in their own way, so unless you believe there's something fundamentally wrong with friends of your own sex too, I don't see the problem.

Don't you think it's a little immature to actively avoid half the human population because "Oh no, what if I make a friend, but THEN THEY DON'T WANT TO BE JUST FRIENDS?"

Pssssst... it's stupid because it's untrue and because it makes sweeping stereotypes based on gender while encouraging a person not to make friends outside their own gender, thereby perpetuating the "men and women can't be friends" myth.
