I hate that I can't search FF by pairing anymore. I haven't gone back to read there since they made the change to add more characters. It took long enough to wade through the bad stories now I have to wade through many other popular pairings to find my pairing and then see if it is a good story. Way too much work.

But I've been on LJ since then and am way behind on reading all the fests, so it isn't like I'm having trouble finding stories to read now.

I wish they woukd have given an option to disable the additional character slots. It would make it so much easier to find fic for me.

Except now there's an actual "pairing" option and as long authors mark ships as such, you can search (or omit, in case of those ships you hate) those pairs specifically instead of choosing those two characters and hope you get some shippy fics.
