The idea of fandom on Facebook is mortifying. I've become Facebook friends with people I met in fandom, but out fannish interaction takes place elsewhere. I'm trying to imagine my relatives, the people I knew in high school, the people I've worked with - in sum, *everybody* - knowing I write porn about pop culture characters. It's too terrible.

Me, too. Even knowing that people make different Facebook accounts -- Facebook just feels like it's supposed to be... I don't know.

I'm only facebook friends with people I've met in real life and even then I'm not facebook friends with most of my fandom friends, we all just keep our lives pretty separate.

Uh...you would have a different name for those FB pages? I mean, seriously - i'm not 'me' on FB - i have a totally fake name, mostly so rl people i know don't look me up. If i were posting fic on FB (which seems really odd, how would you even do that?) I'd just make up a name, get a matching gmail account to sign up with and Bob's your uncle.

This is what I do with all of my fandom. I have a fandom gmail and all my accounts: FF.Net, AO3, etc. are set up with that account. It is even my main account as I use the google docs in it all the time. My personal is secondary, because I get very little personal e-mail. But, I've never used facebook for fandom. I'm not sure how it would work. I am in communities on Google+ though. I'd assume it is close to the same.

Yeah, it's weird. You can't make super-long posts on FB that i'm aware of, so...who knows.

I'll stick to LJ and AO3 and Tumblr for my fannish 'fixes'.

Fanfic gets posted in the notes, but I think the poster is implying that they get support FROM FB for fics posted elsewhere.

At least, that's what I do...

Huh. Interesting.
