Re: Book characters you like to picture as hot (even if they were never explicitly described as hot)

I don't remember what The Hunger Games says about Gale but I picture him way hotter (to me) than Liam Hemsworth.

I dunno, I can't remember canon descriptions of characters. Like young Sirius Black, definitely hot. But I have no idea what the books say about him.

If I like a character I tend to picture them as at least aesthetically attractive. Honestly I'm a little put off by books that make a point of describing the protagonist as plain or unattractive (though I'm more put off by books that overemphasize the protagonist's beauty) because I'm not really interested in that level of realism. Maybe that makes me a superficial reader, I don't much care.

Me too re Gale. Liam Hemsworth is a cutie, but just nowhere near as swoonworthy as I pictured Gale. I thought of him as more of a Henry Cavill type.

I saw a particular photo of Ben Barnes once that was basically the picture I had in my head.

AYRT

Yeah, I can see that too. Especially with the longish hair - he can look a bit dangerous, which is fitting for Gale.

Yeah, dangerous. I think that's my main disappointment with the film's casting - Hemsworth looks too approachable. The differences between Gale and Peeta would be starker if they had cast someone with more of an edge.
